Your Guide to Bristol in July

The sun is shining, hot air balloons are filling the Bristol skies and there is that delightful bbq smell all around.

Get your shorts, your bike and flip flops at the ready cos’ July is going to be full of frolicking outside in the sun.

Beeses Tea Gardens

I can’t recommend this place enough. I took a trip here recently and it’s just stunning. Just a 30 minute cycle (or if you are up for it, just over an hours walk) from the harbourside, followed by a very quick boat across the water (and it only costs 25p!). Before taking a seat in the gardens, if I were you, I’d take a picnic and have a wander into the surrounding fields - they are so peaceful with the only sounds coming from the river and perhaps a few neighbouring ducks. With good local food & good local cider, it’s a day trip that’s pretty darn good all round.

Oldbury Court Estate

If you fancy exploring for the day but want to get a bit further out of the City centre, I really recommend Oldbury Court. You’ve got everything you need; walks by the river, woodlands, a picnic site and a play area for the kids. This is such a beautiful estate and a great day out. If I were you, I’d go all out and cycle down there (rent a bike from our friends at Cycle the City) as it’s only a half hour cycle from the harbourside.

Bristol Harbour Festival

It’s Bristol’s biggest free festival and it’s taking over the City once more from 18th-20th July. All over Bristol for the weekend you’ve got music, markets, and things for the family and even the circus is coming to town. Those who frequent Bristol often, the memories of sitting on hay bales outside the Grain Barge with a pint of local cider listening to some lovely local music… ahhh, they’re coming back to you aren’t they?

Boat Trip

If you fancy ‘cruising’ down the river Avon, head on down to Bristol Ferry Boats where they can entertain you for the afternoon with a selection of different boat tours. Tour the harbour in detail, book onto one of their famous quiz night boat rides or even sail on down to Beese’s with the boat and roast dinner package. You’ll have a grand old time.

We've got some great offers in our four hotels for July and August. Come and enjoy the Summer in Bristol with us!
